~ Testimony of his Actions ~

The month of January has always been one of my most favorite Masonic months. While serving on the MEC faculty I traveled the 11th through 22nd Masonic Districts. During my travels with Worshipful Brother D. Walt Elder we began to notice a recurring theme at one of the Instructional Meetings. Every time an instructor was needed, a question posed, a prayer to be offered or someone to offer an assisting hand there was a certain Past Master they called on. We saw him there in the background, always with a friendly grip and a word of encouragement. His sole goal was to assist the craft. It took Walt and me a couple of visits to remember his name, but we never forgot the testimony of his actions. His actions taught me the true meaning of the scripture we hear in the first degree.

Psalms 133 teaches us the benefit in the communication of the saints, and the excellency of brotherly love. Here we see another example of the love of God in a psalm of David, a man after Gods own heart. David demonstrates through this psalm that people should live together in peace. When we coexist (dwell) in unity with others we experience delight and joy. This joy is likened to a holy anointing. This is the fruit of the spirit and is typified as the numerous drops of dew. As the dew greets us each morning when we rise and allow us to start each day in the cool morning rather than the heat of the day, through God’s holy anointing our passions subside as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion. Our hearts are made ready to receive God’s word so we can be fruitful. The Lord commands the blessing even life for ever more. Here we see a foreshadowing of what heaven will be like. As believers we should show Gods love and live in peace while on earth, therefore we should forgive one another as God has forgiven us.

Our instructional meetings are fast approaching and for the Officers this is a mandatory meeting. Each MEC committeemen has assembled a faculty and they have been meeting in preparation for this January. There is a lot we have planned and if you do not attend you could miss a blessing. To the MEC committee and faculty I challenge you to welcome each brother to the meeting. Please do not allow a brother to attend and sit in the North East corner alone and unwelcome. This is his meeting and we are his host. If one of your faculty members is providentially hindered seek out a Past Master and ask him to assist you. Remember what Walt and I witnessed? Now I purposely have not shared his name until now. The district was the 12th, and the Past Master who was always willing to assist was Jerry Carver. Through the support of the craft this Grand Jurisdiction showed its wisdom by electing MW Brother “Jerry” our Grand Master last April. It is my hope every mason attending lodge will be welcomed with a friendly grip… remember one day he too may be our Grand Master.

Words of the Month: Etymology – the study of word origins Caviling – the entomology is Latin cavillari to jest, deceive. To raise trivial and frivolous objection.

Quote of the Month: “Every breath you take is a gift from God, what you do with that breath is your gift back to God.” M.W. Brother James D. Cole PGM, SGIG Virginia:

Thought of the Month: Glory and accolades are fleeting. When the final chorus in the melody of life is sung all that matters is our family and friends. Spend time each day reminding them how much you love them, for tomorrow may never come.
