Grand Master’s Remarks
It is indeed a privilege and honor to be elected to represent you, the Craft, as your Grand Master. Many thanks are offered to the men who have served in this capacity before me and for the numerous positive things they have instituted during their tenure to make our Craft better than it was before they were installed. I would like to thank the men who are currently serving their Lodge, District, our Grand Line and the many Grand Lodge Committees. It is through their selfless efforts that we continue to be a beacon to our world.
A true Mason understands the value of time and the choices that we make in the here and now that will affect our future. This opportunity is a great journey of a lifetime, but I also understand from the start that it will come to an end. At the same time, I realize the joy of creating a bond with so many that will ultimately take our place in the future. My Brothers just think, you or some of the men by your side right now will be Grand Master one day. I pledge to you, even with the health challenges that I have, to do and act in the best interest of our nation, state, Craft and mankind.
The designs on our trestle board will include:
Back To Basics; Our design is for further enhancement of training for individual members, lodge officers, and appointed and elected grand lodge members for future leadership roles. This will hopefully make a difference not only at the lodge level, but outside of our sacred walls into society, where Masonic principles are needed now more than ever. By streamlining our training for better quality, we can conserve resources, time, travel and finances.
Assessing Our Worth; Our design is to log and compare contributions made at the local lodge level so we are aware of the total impact that we make in the service of God and our neighbors in the Palmetto state.
Rebuilding the Temple; Our design is to offer a statewide fundraising project that will support our Masonic family organizations in South Carolina while also supporting our Grand Lodge Building, Library and Museum, and upcoming 300th Anniversary. It will allow the supporters the ability to customize their support in the area that they feel is near and dear to them.
Not Just Busy but Effective; Our design is to be as effective as possible when performing lodge activities, but with a balance of serving our family, place of worship, and community. Most successful people take time off to enjoy some part of life and recharge our batteries.
Remember Our Purpose; Our main design is and has always been self-awareness and self-development. We are taught charity, to understand the individual way we learn, to overcome ignorance, prejudice, vice and superstition, to obey the will of The Almighty Father, to understand we are accountable for our actions, and one day we will render an account for those actions.
I ask that we Open our Minds to the possibilities; Doubt it not my Brothers, Our Purpose, Our Destination is Illumination!
